First Ukraine, now Taiwan: an expert explains the essence of Trump’s peace plans

Trump

Political technologist Mikhail Sheitelman explained that Trump is “handing over” Taiwan to China, just as he is handing Ukraine to Russia. The only difference is that from Ukraine he first wanted rare earth metals, and from the Taiwanese he now wants factories, according to Politeka.

He spoke about this on his blog.

According to the expert, following a visit to China, Trump effectively stated that in the event of a war, the United States would not defend Taiwan. As he reminds, back in December Lavrov said that if there is a war against China, Russia will be on China’s side, while now, it turns out, the US will not be on Taiwan’s side either. And all because, the expert continues, Trump said that the US is 9,500 miles away from the island, although the US is not close to Iran either, yet it still goes to war there.

“He says: ‘Let Taiwan move all its semiconductor companies here, and then there will be no need to defend it.’ In other words, we will take out the most valuable assets, and Taiwan can be taken. Well, that is essentially what he said. Taiwan should be taken. Taiwan, move production here, to America. By the way, Trump now doesn’t even call Taiwan by name. He says: ‘China does not want this place (let’s call it a place, because no one knows how to define it) to be independent.’ That is, he couldn’t even say the word ‘Taiwan.’ The place that must not be named. Trump decided to betray the entire previous US policy,” Mikhail Sheitelman comments.

As he notes, one must know the history of Taiwan to understand its importance: it is home to Chinese democrats and liberals who retreated after the war with Mao Zedong, and they preserved democracy. In the expert’s opinion, this is very similar to Ukraine, because Russia has fascism, Belarus has Lukashenko-style authoritarianism, while Ukraine, the Baltic states, and Moldova are democratic, and the rest of the former USSR countries are mostly already autocratic.

“If we take the collapse of the Russian Empire, then we are Taiwan. And Trump has decided to betray us the same way he is betraying Taiwan, because he does not care about democracy. He looks at what needs to be taken out before handing it over to the enemy. He decided to give Ukraine away, but first he needs to extract rare earth metals—he allegedly tricked Zelensky on the very first day, saying: sign that the rare earth metals are mine, and that you owe me 350 billion, and then he will give Ukraine away, and Russia will pay. That was Trump’s plan. On February 28 last year, Trump’s plan was to hand Ukraine over to the Russians, but first to formalize the debt so that Russia would pay him. Now he has a similar plan for Taiwan: basically, we will give everything to the Chinese, but first let them move the factories,” Mikhail Sheitelman explains.
