“‘Little green men’ may come out of the military base in Gyumri”: Expert warns of threats to Armenia

Armenia

Political technologist Mikhail Sheitelman said that Russia has already begun a verbal attack on Armenia but is also preparing a military option if Pashinyan wins the June 7 elections, reports Politeka.

He shared this in his blog.

“Another war, which apparently Putin was negotiating with Xi about. We thought he was talking about attacking Europe, but maybe it’s about taking over Armenia—perhaps initially a soft takeover, not yet by force, but one that could turn into a military one. Strangely enough, I am most worried about Armenia right now. The Russians have begun a massive attack on Armenia, albeit currently verbal and propagandistic. Armenia has elections on June 7, and if Pashinyan wins, for some reason I am ready to consider the scenario that ‘little green men’ could emerge from the military base in Gyumri and seize part of Armenia—or perhaps all of Armenia—just like they did in Sevastopol. Put a pig at the table, and it puts its feet on the table. We cannot let these Russian troops anywhere. We once mistakenly allowed them into Crimea; now, I hope, after Crimea’s liberation, they will never be there again. And the Russians could begin an operation against Armenia if Pashinyan wins,” explains Mikhail Sheitelman.

The expert says that anti-Putin activist Remeslo, who has his own channels in the Kremlin, reports that all Russian agencies have been tasked with working on Armenia, because this is now the most important mission: to scare Armenians with war, send political technologists to support the opposition, and prepare a scenario for mass protests if Pashinyan wins. Interestingly, notes Sheitelman, Remeslo claims that if Armenia had previously chosen the EU and NATO, Russia wouldn’t have even made a peep.

According to the expert, this is a very dangerous situation, because Russian troops are present in Armenia, and they could simply take to the streets if Pashinyan wins. But Pashinyan himself, he notes, is doing everything correctly for now, in particular refusing to go to Moscow for the summit.

“Here, the Armenian prime minister has already realized that it was a political mistake to ride a bicycle around Moscow. People will misunderstand it immediately and shout that you are ‘one people’ with them. Well done, respected Pashinyan. Now we have someone to worry about until June 7—and it seems, even after June 7,” concludes Mikhail Sheitelman.
