“‘It may be possible to enter some phase of the negotiation process’: expert assesses when to expect the end of the hot phase of the war

Political expert and military serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko commented on President Zelensky’s statement that the hot phase of the war could end by November this year, and assessed whether there are any chances, reports Politeka.

He spoke about this in his blog.

“This statement makes sense. I will explain why. The thing is that we are currently going through another round of escalation. We can see that Russia is intensifying its strikes and will continue to carry them out as long as it has the capacity. On our side, we are planning to increase our own strikes; there are relevant instructions from the President of Ukraine to the Defense and Security Forces, which have been and, of course, will continue to be carried out,” says Oleksandr Musiienko.

And based on the results of this summer-autumn campaign, the expert explains, new grounds for negotiations and a new round may emerge and take shape. And, he emphasizes, we hope that we will ensure these negotiations from a position of strength and manage to pressure Putin.

“That is why there is an announcement that, in November at least, it may be possible to enter some phase of the negotiation process. But this is not certain yet. The logic is that it is difficult to talk about resuming negotiations earlier. That is, they may happen, but whether it will be possible to agree on anything there is very doubtful,” explains Oleksandr Musiienko.

Therefore, he concludes, we still need to understand that we may be able to end the hot phase of the war, but not the war itself. And the war will continue as long as Moscow exists as a neo-imperial center, he emphasizes, and we must destroy this mythology around Moscow and Russia. This is also our historical mission, our purpose.
