Shelling Will Not Change the Situation on the Front: Expert Explains Why Russia’s Threats Will Not Affect the Line of Combat Contact

war

Military expert Oleg Starikov explained that the escalation of attacks on Kyiv, the “war of cities,” and actions based on the principle of “an eye for an eye” are all strikes aimed only at civilians and have no impact on the front line, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his channel.

“There are intelligence indicators. God willing, they will not materialize, but everything is moving toward escalation. This is what Medvedev wrote about. The first intelligence sign is that the United States has withdrawn from the negotiation process. Secretary of State Rubio stated this, calmly signaling to Europeans: ‘You wanted it — then fight,’” Oleg Starikov noted.

The loss of human lives, the expert emphasized, is a terrible thing, but if the limit is crossed, such an escalation will begin that it will become impossible to stop. As a result, he warned, the doctrine of General Douhet — carpet bombings — could be applied, and this is already beginning to happen now. He added that the EU does not have unlimited resources to continue helping Ukraine.

“An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a war of cities — none of this has any significance. These strikes have absolutely nothing to do with the situation on the front line. Shelling will not change the situation on the front, it will not change anything at all. During the negotiations, we were talking about the line of combat contact. Strikes will change nothing,” Oleg Starikov explained.

According to the expert, attacks such as the strike on Kyiv on May 24 have more of an informational and psychological effect and are primarily strikes against civilians. Therefore, he concluded, when the political and diplomatic track resumes — when negotiations on a ceasefire and ending the war restart — it will become clear that such shelling did not affect the situation on the front line.
