This isn’t the first time NATO has come under attack from Russian drones, says expert on the attack on Romania

Shahed drones

Political expert and military officer Oleksandr Musienko explained that following the Russian drone strike on a residential building in Romania, Europe must wake up because the threats persist, according to Politeka.
He wrote about this in his blog.

“A Russian drone attacked the city of Galați. Let’s be frank: Russia deliberately attacked Romanian territory, the territory of a NATO country. And this is not the first time NATO has come under attack by Russian drones—and not only that. The drone flew about 20 km inland; that’s already dangerous territory. Should the Romanian authorities now evacuate their residents? Well, so far they’ve only evacuated the residents of the residential building that the drone hit. 70 people have been evacuated, with at least two injured,” notes Oleksandr Musienko.

According to the expert, F-16s took off from their bases, and Romania scrambled a military helicopter, but the drone was not shot down; it flew calmly into the residential building. Moreover, he adds, Russia will certainly blame Ukraine for all of this; there will be a narrative that a Ukrainian electronic warfare system deflected the drone, causing it to fly into Romania by accident, and the Kremlin will claim that this was unintentional aggression.

In other words, the expert notes, Russia will try to play the fool, claiming it had nothing to do with it, that it was a tragic accident and nothing more, and so on. Furthermore, he warns, Russia will try to get Europe to pressure Ukraine to end the war, claiming that then Europeans will be left in peace—that’s the logic.

“Europe must unite and stay focused. Does anyone really think Russia would not dare to attack Romania? Why not? It already has. Does anyone think Russia would not dare to attack Lithuania? It could, from the territory of Belarus. Or Poland? Absolutely possible. Even Finland, Sweden, and the Baltic Sea countries. The threats are real. We must respond,” Oleksandr Musiienko concluded.
