Trump Has Found His Vietnam: Expert Assesses How Much Longer Iran Can Hold Out

Political analyst and serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Musiienko, discussed the evolving situation between the United States and Iran and assessed which side has time on its side amid the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, reports Politeka.
He shared his views on his blog.
“The United States has begun carrying out strikes in southern Iran. According to the Americans themselves, these strikes target air defense facilities, missile bases, and storage sites for long-range drones. All of this is happening against the backdrop of ongoing negotiations that supposedly continue but are not producing the results many had hoped for. Just recently, Iran shot down an American helicopter, and prior to that there had already been clashes. It cannot be said that a complete ceasefire is being observed. Whether these strike campaigns will escalate into something larger or remain at the current level, ultimately leaving room for further negotiations, is difficult to say at this point,” Oleksandr Musiienko explains.
According to him, it is clear that Trump has drawn the United States into a prolonged war, and oil prices have immediately risen. This, in turn, leads to higher prices for gasoline, diesel fuel, petroleum products, aviation fuel, food, and many other goods.
“Some analysts are writing that Trump has gotten his Vietnam. We shall see, but the United States has certainly become deeply involved. Iran has not been fully disarmed, the regime has not completely collapsed, and now we are seeing the consequences as Iran attempts to dictate its own terms. Pressure must be maintained. If you have already become involved, then Iran must be pushed further,” Musiienko argues.
According to the expert, if the maritime blockade continues throughout the summer and Iran remains unable to sell its oil, it will simply run out of money. Therefore, he says, Iran is acting with urgency, pursuing escalation and attacking Gulf countries in an effort to pressure the United States into negotiations, because time is working against Iran.
