“Russia Is Looking for Sources to Import Gasoline”: Expert Explains the Consequences of Strikes on Oil Refineries

Political analyst and serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Musiienko, commented on the second attack within a week on the Moscow oil refinery, stating that Ukraine’s Defense Forces are successfully penetrating Russian air defenses, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

“The sky over Moscow has been covered with black smoke. If it rains, the rain will be black, just as it was in Tuapse and other cities where oil refineries were burning. The attack will at the very least disable and suspend the plant’s operations. As a result, we should expect gasoline rationing — no more than 20 liters per vehicle — and possibly even fuel shortages. By the way, there is information that Russia is looking for sources to import gasoline. In other words, a country that had every opportunity, that possesses such vast oil and gas reserves and such refining potential, is now seeking ways to import gasoline. These are the consequences of Putin’s so-called ‘special military operation’; these are the consequences of the criminal war launched by the Russian dictator against Ukraine. You reap what you sow. Everything comes back like a boomerang,” Oleksandr Musiienko commented.

According to the expert, Ukraine’s Defense Forces will not stop; the campaign of strikes against Russia will continue and expand until it forces Russia to end the war. And if Moscow residents have complaints, he added, they should take them to the Kremlin.

“These attacks demonstrate that Ukraine’s Defense Forces are successfully getting through Russian air defenses, including Moscow’s air defense system. In Russia, these defenses were presented as impenetrable. As we can see, they are not. Moreover, during such attacks, the enemy’s air defense assets are gradually being depleted — they expend missiles and consume resources,” Oleksandr Musiienko noted.

Naturally, he said, Russia will respond with hysteria and threats, but the key factor for Ukraine is the systematic nature of the strikes. The same facility has been targeted for the second time in a week, the expert explained, in order to cause greater damage, keep the refinery out of operation for a longer period, and make repairs more expensive, since Russia is forced to overpay for sanctioned goods and equipment. Therefore, the losses are real and significant.
