Global looting: an expert explained what is happening in the world and what Trump is achieving

International political scientist Maksym Yali stated that the old world order no longer exists, democracy no longer dominates the world, and a fight is underway against autocracies, in particular, in Ukraine, Politeka reports.

“His strategy is already clear – to reshape the world, to take part in the destruction of this world order. The previous administration tried to at least pretend that it still exists, but Trump, as a businessman, realistically assessed the situation. And from his point of view, the world order that was formed after the end of World War II, and then transformed to a certain extent after the collapse of the Soviet Union, is disadvantageous for the United States. Therefore, Trump actually decided to take part in the reformatting of this world order. And his geopolitical ambitions for Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal are only confirmation of this,” explains Maksym Yali.

On occasion, the expert recalls Fukuyama's famous work "The End of History" from the end of the last century, which says that there is no alternative to democracy, to the liberal world order, and at that time there was a lot of evidence for this, because many autocracies were turning into democracies, it was the mainstream. However, he states, this order has come to an end, recently autocracies have gained weight, they have adopted the best technologies and even fit into the liberal world order.

"To my great regret, we have become a battlefield between autocracies and democracies. In the first month after taking office as US president, Biden announced that future conflicts would be between autocracies and democracies. And after that, a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine began," emphasizes Maxim Yali.

That is why, the expert states, we hear these statements from Trump that, for example, we should talk about Crimea with Obama, and not with him. That is, he explains, Trump wants to turn this page and seize the moment to strengthen the US and participate in global looting.
