“We Threw Them a Fiery Party”: Expert Explains Why It Is Important to Keep Attacking Moscow with Drones

Political analyst and serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Musiienko, explained that systematic UAV attacks on Moscow and the surrounding Moscow region represent a real transfer of the war onto Russian territory and strengthen Ukraine’s position in negotiations, reports Politeka.

He discussed this in his blog.

According to the expert, Ukrainian drones have awakened the entire Moscow region and are breaking through air defenses all the way to Moscow itself. Moreover, he emphasizes that videos and photos of the drones’ flights are being shared by residents of both elite estates and ordinary summer cottages, meaning that all segments of society have witnessed what was happening. They have seen that a threat was flying directly overhead, that targets were being shot down above them, and that debris was falling onto their property.

“Well, we threw them a fiery party. But what is the purpose of this, and what does it mean? Some skeptics might say that Russia has strengthened its air defenses, that its capabilities have increased, and that our drones are no longer able to break through to Moscow as successfully as they did last week. But let’s look at it from another perspective. The drones are reaching the Moscow region. They are appearing in the suburbs, just dozens—or even a few—kilometers from the Russian capital. They are getting closer and closer. Once again, we are clearly demonstrating that Moscow is now under the close scrutiny of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, that military facilities in Moscow and around the capital region should be burning, and that drones are breaking through to reach them. Yes, strikes against other military facilities are also important, but Moscow carries enormous symbolic significance, and reaching it is necessary,” Oleksandr Musiienko explains.

In addition, he notes that systematic attacks on this region help reveal how Russian air defenses have changed, how they can be penetrated, how to counter them, where electronic warfare systems are operating more intensively, where additional mobile fire groups are deployed, and whether the number of S-400 systems, Pantsir systems, and other assets has increased. Overall, the expert concludes, all of this functions as part of the information war and has a significant moral and psychological impact.

“This is a continuation of the strategy of bringing the war onto Russian territory, something President Zelenskyy has rightly emphasized. In a recent interview, he clearly stated that the war must be taken to Russian soil. This is fair, and none of us have any doubts about that. Only in this way can pressure be applied to Russia and force it, at the very least, to cease active combat operations, while also ensuring Ukraine’s strong position in any negotiations. These strikes will certainly continue. The Defense Forces will work systematically to identify weak points in the enemy’s air defenses and break through the defensive ring around Moscow,” Oleksandr Musiienko concluded.
