“This Will Complicate Russian Air Defense Operations”: Expert Discusses New Deliveries from the UK

Political analyst and serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Musiienko, said that Ukraine and the United Kingdom are working within the framework of a strategic partnership. While important decisions have already been made, further efforts are needed to secure the deployment of foreign troops, Politeka reports.

He shared these remarks on his blog.

According to the expert, Ukraine and the United Kingdom have developed a unique framework for bilateral cooperation through the 100-Year Partnership Agreement. He emphasized that this strategic agreement should be continuously reinforced with practical initiatives and additional bilateral arrangements. As part of this cooperation, the UK is providing Ukraine with a license to manufacture advanced electronic warfare (EW) systems designed to be installed on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used in strikes against targets inside Russia.

“Strikes will become more successful and more effective. Drones will face less interference from the enemy’s electronic warfare systems, their detectability by radar will be reduced, and, as a result, this will complicate the work of Russian air defenses and increase the effectiveness of our attacks. The relevant EW systems and production licenses are being transferred, which will accelerate deliveries to Ukraine’s Defense Forces. This is a very important development,” Oleksandr Musiienko explained.

He also noted that the UK’s new Prime Minister, Burnham, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting Ukraine and its readiness to deploy troops as part of the multinational Coalition of the Willing mission after a ceasefire is reached.

However, Musiienko said it has not yet been possible to persuade partners to deploy troops immediately, which he believes is necessary. If allies are unwilling to station forces in eastern Ukraine, he suggested beginning with Odesa and Lviv before gradually expanding the deployment to Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, and Dnipro.

“If not on the Left Bank, then let it be on the Right Bank—at the very least along the Dnipro River. This contingent should begin deploying gradually right now. That would send a clear signal to Russia, a signal to Putin, that the West is already here, that allied troops are already present, and that there should be no thoughts of further expansion or an attack on NATO countries. That is what is truly important. Waiting until after a ceasefire will not produce the effect we need. Of course, we must continue convincing our partners that troop deployment should begin now,” Oleksandr Musiienko concluded.
