Political strategist on 100 days of Trump's presidency: "We didn't get a gift"

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman said that the peace talks have reached a dead end, as Witkoff is unable to persuade Putin to a truce.

He said this in his blog.

"It seems that there are no more negotiations. The fourth of April of the war is over. I'm not sure that it's the last one, because all these stories about someone supposedly making peace now, which they started to fill us with, have gone somewhere, disappeared. And Bloomberg is already reporting this, not me. I was the one who said that I had doubts, that Kuleba is probably more right than anyone else, that we have not come close to peace at all. Now Bloomberg is reporting this," Mikhail Sheitelman comments.

According to the publication, the expert says that the peace talks have reached a dead end because Putin continues to demand full control over the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, and even Special Representative Witkoff could not convince him to give up this and agree to a ceasefire and a halt to the war along the current front line.

And according to this source, he notes, progress is possible only with a personal meeting between Putin and Trump. However, the expert thinks that Trump will not meet with Putin now, he is specifically sending Witkoff, because, if anything, he can be written off as a junkyard, but he himself will not go to Moscow and lose there, especially since he has 100 days of presidency.

“But we have not received any gifts in 100 days. As Trump himself says, he has only begun. Well, that's where we started, that's where we finished,” Mikhail Sheitelman emphasizes.
