From threats to sanctions: an expert explained how to force Putin to agree to a truce

Putin

Political expert and military officer Oleksandr Musienko said that after Putin’s refusal to agree to a 30-day truce, we are waiting for the promised powerful and tough sanctions against the Russian Federation from the West, Politeka reports.

He said this in his blog

“This night, Russia launched a large number of Shahed-type kamikaze drones over Ukraine, that is, there is no ceasefire. In fact, Putin ignored the demand of the entire civilized world. He rejected all of this, once again demonstrating that he absolutely does not care about proposals, conditions, demands, warnings that tougher sanctions may be imposed. It does not work. It didn’t work this time and it won’t work next time, until there is a transition from words to real concrete actions and deeds, until we see that real deeds will follow the words,” Oleksandr Musienko emphasizes.
And May 12, he claims, is also the moment of truth for the West, whether it will fulfill its promise and introduce tough, powerful sanctions against Russia for refusing to cease fire. At the same time, Ukraine, under such a schedule, the expert adds, should receive more weapons in order to inflict painful blows on Russian military facilities.

“But now there is a problem in that it is the West that is demonstrating certain weaknesses, not going all the way. The decision that it is necessary to go to Putin’s conditions, that it is necessary to hold a meeting in Istanbul on May 15, on Thursday, even if the fire is not stopped, is a concession to the aggressor,” Oleksandr Musienko claims.

As the expert explains, the West is showing weakness in not insisting on its own agenda, on a 30-day ceasefire as a prerequisite for further negotiations. According to him, here we must not be afraid to put pressure on Putin, he is not that scary, and Ukraine has proven this by destroying so many myths about the supposedly invincible Russian army.
