"They are trying to deceive us, and we – them": expert assesses the situation at the front

war in Ukraine

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiyenko stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are achieving successes on the front, but the situation remains dangerous, as the enemy is searching for weak spots in the defense, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this in his blog.

According to the expert, the AFU have successes in Sumy and Kharkiv regions. President Zelensky, after hearing a report from Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi, announced that Ukrainian units continue to advance toward the state border. In addition, he noted, the AFU continue to operate in Donetsk region, where they repel Russian assaults.

"Meanwhile, the Defense Forces liberated the village of Pankivka in the Dobropillia direction. It is located about 18 km from Dobropillia and 35 km from the administrative border with Dnipropetrovsk region. To increase their offensive potential, the Russians redeployed four infantry brigades and one marine regiment into the responsibility zone of the First Corps of the National Guard 'Azov'," Oleksandr Musiyenko explained.

However, the expert emphasized, it must be understood that the enemy continues intensive offensive actions. There may be tactical successes in Donetsk region and toward Dnipropetrovsk region, but the AFU are doing everything to prevent this. As he explained, the enemy, realizing that we will deploy certain forces and reserves—possibly redeployed from other directions—is trying to find weak points in our defense, probing and pressing there.

"We remain, as before, in a kind of competition – who can move reserves faster, who can mislead the enemy. They are trying to deceive us, and we – them. However, the Defense Forces calculate enemy positions, possible courses of action, and plans, and strike accordingly. The enemy will continue acting this way. Hence the situation near Kupiansk. The enemy, probing our defenses and thinking we would redeploy units from there to Donetsk region, attempted to advance toward Kupiansk, where fighting continues on the outskirts. Threats remain," Oleksandr Musiyenko explained.
