“Holiday cake”: expert says Tomahawks are a gift to Putin from Trump

Political technologist Mikhail Sheitelman explained that Trump’s statement — that he has effectively decided to give Tomahawks to Ukraine — is a personal gift to Putin, and that the missiles will more likely fly to bomb Moscow and oil refineries, Politeka reports.

He said this on his blog.

The expert notes that Trump said he has, in a sense, already decided to send Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine on Putin’s birthday. However, he adds, Trump still wants to clarify with Ukrainian leadership exactly where those missiles would fly — but it seems the decision has been made and it is a positive one.

“Apparently Trump decided to bring some kind of light into that dark day, October 7, when the Russian dictator Putin was born and when Hamas attacked Israel. And he said that Tomahawks — yes. And it’s important that he did it on Putin’s birthday. If you think that Trump, that crafty fellow, failed to notice that it was Putin’s birthday, you’re wrong. Quite the opposite. On Putin’s birthday he said, with particular cynicism, that he’s passing Tomahawks to Ukraine. So this is his holiday cake for Putin,” comments Mikhail Sheitelman.

Sheitelman states that Ukrainian military-political leadership will determine targets for the Tomahawks jointly with the United States — not personally with Trump, but with the Pentagon. Moreover, he emphasizes, a task has already been set to deprive Russia of its oil sector, so perhaps Tomahawks will be used to take out those refineries that cannot be hit otherwise.

“In general, the Moscow oil-refining system needs to be destroyed. That would be beautiful. It would make sense to burn it down, and for that you need Tomahawks, because you can’t get through air defenses with our missiles, even with the ‘Flamingo.’ As far as I understand, Tomahawks penetrate air defenses more effectively than the ‘Flamingo.’ So thanks to Trump for such a wonderful gift. Overall we believe that it’s not the gift that matters but the attention — attention to our problem that so far we haven’t managed to completely burn out all the refineries,” concludes Mikhail Sheitelman.
