According to Trump’s peace plan, Ukraine will firmly enter the Western sphere of influence, – political analyst

Political analyst Ruslan Bortnik explained that there is no consolidated U.S.–Russia position regarding Ukraine.
He said this in his blog.
According to the expert, there is no unified position of the U.S. and Russia on Ukraine, but their interests do coincide, because both countries think in rational, pragmatic terms and are interested in ending this exhausting conflict in order to shift their focus to other important matters.
“Russia needs to reestablish control over Central Asia and the Caucasus, where it is losing influence to China and Turkey. Accordingly, the U.S. needs to establish control and strengthen its influence in Southeast Asia, through which the main global trade routes and flows pass. And this war has simply become unnecessary for them. Russia needs it more, the U.S. less, but it has become unnecessary for both. And that’s why sometimes their positions converge,” Ruslan Bortnik explains.
However, he notes, the U.S. and the Russian Federation cannot have a joint position on Ukraine because their strategies differ. Even after reading Trump’s peace plan, the expert emphasizes, following the negotiations in Moscow, Ushakov immediately stated that they did not discuss the points, only the general ideas.
“If you read it, it becomes clear that under Trump’s peace plan, Ukraine will firmly and for a long time enter the Western sphere of influence. I won’t say ‘forever,’ because history in our region changes constantly. This peace plan by Trump envisions that Ukraine—without part of its territory, and making certain concessions to Moscow—will become a formal and informal part of the West through the implementation of a U.S. investment agreement, through a free trade zone, and possibly in the future through integration into the EU, thereby falling within the Western sphere of influence,” Ruslan Bortnik concludes.
