New U.S. National Security Strategy: Expert Explains Why Trump Wants to Get Closer to Russia

Trump-Putin Meeting in Alaska

Military expert Oleh Starikov commented on Trump’s new national security strategy and explained what it means for Europe, Ukraine, and what the U.S. will now focus on, Politeka reports.
He discussed this on his channel.

“The first and key point is that the U.S. is giving up the role of the world’s policeman and shifting to the role of a capitalist shark. In other words, they see something lying around poorly protected, take it, sit on it, and bring it home. That’s what they will be doing. And to do this, they will maintain a balance of power, as well as peace through strength, which prevents damage to their national interests. If they have national interests somewhere, they will project force and all the power they have in order to solve their economic, financial, and political interests,” Oleh Starikov explains.

The second point, the expert notes, is flexible realism — meaning the U.S. will deal with any regimes without imposing freedoms, democracy, and liberalism. He also notes that the U.S. is now completely ignoring the EU and not communicating with its leadership, such as Kaja Kallas or Ursula von der Leyen, only with heads of state.

“NATO is no longer expanding — this is related to the issues of the Russian-Ukrainian war and to what the Kremlin is declaring. Restoring stability with the Russian Federation is all within the framework of ending the Russian-Ukrainian war,” Starikov claims.

The expert also notes that the new U.S. national security strategy states that the Trump administration is at odds with European officials, who have unrealistic expectations regarding the war. He also recalls the incident at this year’s Munich Security Conference, where U.S. Vice President Vance read his report and left, causing shock or a stir at the session — and now we see what that was leading to.
