Specially for Trump: an expert explains the purpose of information about an alleged attack on Putin’s residence

Trump-Putin Meeting in Alaska

Political strategist Mykhailo Sheitelman explained that Lavrov spoke about an alleged attack on Putin’s residence in order to justify shelling Ukraine on New Year’s Eve and to derail peace negotiations, Politeka reports.

He talked about this on his blog.

“For which of the fools was this idiot’s speech prepared? Obviously, for Trump. There’s no one else. Why did the Russians need to deceive Trump with yet another fairy tale about us supposedly bombing Putin’s residence all night? Well, first of all, in Russia, wherever you spit, there’s a Putin residence. They’ve stuffed these residences into every region; it’s Putin everywhere. So apparently it was crucial for us to damage his golden bathtub and golden toilet with our drones. Otherwise, why would we bomb a Putin residence at night when Putin isn’t even there? We know he’s supposedly hanging around at a command post right on the front line, in uniform. So let me explain why Lavrov needs this whole story,” Mykhailo Sheitelman comments.

As he explains, Trump had promised that after talks with Zelensky he would call Putin again—but he didn’t, just as he didn’t come to Budapest—so the Russians decided they needed to do something. Especially since, the expert notes, Russia is anyway preparing a massive strike on Ukraine for New Year’s Eve; since 2022 we haven’t had a single calm New Year, so the attack is planned, they don’t want to cancel it, but there are negotiations going on.

That is, he emphasizes, if they simply shell Ukraine for no reason, Trump won’t like it. He constantly says that he has almost agreed on everything with Putin, that Putin wants peace and wishes prosperity for Ukraine—and then Putin himself would be setting Trump up. But if there was an attack on a residence, then Russia’s negotiating position has changed.

“And secondly, the Russians now need to clarify certain things. Apparently, Trump didn’t quite understand them from all the conversations. And now the Russians want to say that it’s not that Trump is stupid and misunderstood everything, but that because the criminal Kyiv regime attacked them, they are changing their position. That is, to leave themselves full room for maneuver in the so-called negotiations. That’s the kind of fairy tale it is,” Mykhailo Sheitelman concludes.
