“Drones Don’t Solve Every Task, Unfortunately”: Expert Warns of Risks on the Zaporizhzhia Axis

Political analyst and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko assessed the situation at the front and stated that the main blow is likely to come on the Zaporizhzhia axis, where Ukraine needs more infantry, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

According to the expert, the enemy has intensified offensive actions toward Kupiansk, and the spokesperson for that axis, Trehubov, said that the Russians want to capture the city by February. In Musiienko’s words, the Russians have already repeatedly delivered false reports to Putin about taking Kupiansk, but once again they will have to go and “liberate” the city.

“Therefore, the situation has become more complicated in the Kharkiv region. In this way, the enemy is trying to stretch our defensive line. It is also difficult on the Pokrovsk axis and on the Zaporizhzhia axis, which is likely to become a priority for the enemy’s offensive now, alongside the Pokrovsk axis. The adversary is defining its military campaign for the first weeks and months of 2026. And most likely, this could be the Zaporizhzhia axis. This is exactly what interests the enemy,” Oleksandr Musiienko explains.

The expert also recalls that even the former head of military intelligence, Budanov—who now holds the position of head of the Presidential Office—warned about risks on the Zaporizhzhia axis, and defensive operations are currently underway there.

“Of course, there are defensive lines, but they need to be saturated with infantry. Drones, unfortunately, do not solve all tasks. As practice shows, artillery, infantry, and armored vehicles are still in play. Despite innovations and changes in warfare, classical elements still play an important role. Therefore, of course, on the Zaporizhzhia axis, I am convinced that our command sees everything and will pay appropriate attention, just as on the Pokrovsk axis,” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
