“Trump Will Ban All Russian Oil”: Expert Explains How the U.S. Will Play the Venezuela Card

Oil

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman explained that the United States did not treat Venezuela particularly well: it did not support the opposition, but if, as a result, it manages to push Russian oil out of the market, then this is beneficial for Ukraine, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

According to the expert, it turns out that the United States reached an agreement with Maduro’s inner circle that it would remain in power in Venezuela, but on American terms. Trump himself, Sheitelman says, stated that it is impossible to hold elections there because people would not be able to vote and that the country must first be rebuilt. It is strange, however, that he does not say the same about Ukraine, which is under daily shelling and certainly also needs to be rebuilt first. The Wall Street Journal, the expert continues, even writes that the United States has betrayed Venezuela’s democratic opposition, claiming it is politically unviable, and that Maduro’s administration will remain in power.

“That is, if Lukashenko had been overthrown, the Americans would have said that some press secretary should serve as acting president, rather than Tikhanovskaya, who was democratically elected. If Putin had been overthrown, they would not have looked for Navalnaya or Kasparov, but would have said: let Patrushev govern, or Medvedev — he’s the second most important person in the country. Dmitry Anatolyevich, govern on Trump’s behalf in the name of the Tarabar King. That’s how the United States defeated the bloody dictator Maduro and put the rest of the gang in charge of Venezuela,” Mikhail Sheitelman comments.

And Trump, he says, immediately made it clear what he wants from Delcy Rodríguez: for Venezuela to stop supplying oil to U.S. adversaries — that is, the United States will buy this oil and then resell it itself. In the expert’s opinion, from the standpoint of an outside observer this is, of course, outrageous, but from a Ukrainian perspective, it suits Ukraine.

“Yes, I know that the freedom-loving Venezuelan people are suffering, but it suits us that America will receive Venezuelan oil, that American companies will come to Venezuela to extract this oil. This suits us because Trump will ban all Russian oil. He will need new markets for Venezuelan oil. And where did Venezuela sell its oil? To India, Africa, China — to those very enemies of the United States. Now Americans will take this oil and sell it where? To India, Africa, China — but instead of the Russians. Cynically speaking, if they succeed with such a scheme, it will be beneficial for us,” Mikhail Sheitelman concludes.
