Another Trump U-turn: an expert explains why the U.S. president lashed out at Ukraine with accusations

Trump

Political strategist Mykhailo Sheitelman said that Trump lacks intelligence, heart, and courage, since he is once again blaming the president of Ukraine and claiming that Putin wants peace, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

“Unfortunately, Trump doesn’t leave us alone with his statements. Just as we’re starting to more or less recover from his insults toward the Ukrainian people, from his attempts to belittle the Ukrainians’ feat and justify the Russians… It seemed we’d gotten used to it; it seemed the guy had started to change. It lasted two weeks. You know, it’s like an alcoholic who just can’t quit. From December 31 Trump managed to hold himself back from glorifying Putin and humiliating Zelensky. Fifteen days, just as Rabbi Kamenetsky predicted. And then—another Trump U-turn, another betrayal, though betraying is nothing new for him. Once again, Zelensky is to blame for everything, and Putin, of course, wants peace. Each of us in Ukraine right now can literally feel with our own skin and our frozen insides how much Putin wants peace,” Mykhailo Sheitelman comments.

In the expert’s opinion, Trump simply lacks certain qualities, much like in the fairy tale The Land of Oz. In the story, he recalls, the Scarecrow lacked brains, the Tin Woodman lacked a heart, and the Lion lacked courage—but all of this also applies to Trump.

“There can’t be such a real person as Trump; he’s a composite image, a metaphor. Such a cowardly, iron, frightening lion–woodman—a creature that lacks intelligence, heart, and courage. And this cowardly, iron, frightening lion–woodman, it seems to me, has found his own Wizard of Oz. He considers Zelensky to be that Wizard, which is why he keeps trying endlessly to meet with him. How many times has he met with Putin? Once. And with Zelensky? Eight times. Yet for him Zelensky doesn’t want peace, while Putin is supposedly sitting somewhere wanting it,” Mykhailo Sheitelman explains.

As he notes, Trump has again decided to meet with Zelensky, this time in Davos at the World Economic Forum. However, the expert reminds us that they already met on December 28 at Mar-a-Lago; then there were additional working meetings; then Witkoff and Kushner flew to Paris—so the question arises of what else they still need to discuss. According to him, Trump sees that Zelensky possesses qualities that he himself lacks and wants to “catch” intelligence, heart, and courage from him—but that’s not how it works. Therefore, the expert concludes, Trump should read the fairy tale and understand that heroes acquire the qualities they need by going through trials.
