The Countdown to the End of the Russian–Ukrainian War Has Begun, Says a Military Expert on the Energy Truce

Military expert Oleh Starikov explained that Trump agreed on an energy truce at a time when the front line is at a stalemate, and, knowing the character of businessmen, it is unlikely that Putin will violate anything, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his channel.

“The key point is that the settlement of the Russian–Ukrainian war is not proceeding on a ‘whatever happens’ basis, not as spontaneous chaos. This is not entropy, not the second law of thermodynamics. Everything is unfolding strictly within the framework of the recommendations and scientific research provided by Thomas Schelling, for which he received the Nobel Prize. The U.S. administration is acting strictly within the framework of the scientific work of the Nobel laureate. So what conclusion can be drawn? Could a Nobel Prize laureate be mistaken? He could not. Could the Trump administration be mistaken?” Oleh Starikov asserts.

Moreover, the expert emphasizes that Trump chose the right moment for an energy truce, because the sides have reached a positional deadlock: a war of attrition is underway, but neither side can win.

“I believe that January 30, 2026, will be a point in history marking the beginning of the countdown toward the end of the Russian–Ukrainian war,” Oleh Starikov stresses.

The expert also draws attention to the fact that a photograph of Trump and Putin in Alaska is hanging in the White House, and to understand why this is important, one should compile a moral and psychological portrait of the U.S. president. Trump, he says, is a businessman and a builder—that is, a person who believes that if you say something, you will do it; people of this level do not deceive. And the photograph in the White House, the expert explains, indicates that Trump trusts Putin, so it is unlikely that he will deceive the U.S. president regarding the energy truce; otherwise, he would face a naval blockade.
