Political strategist assesses what is happening on the international stage: “Putin has gone completely quiet — he’s run out of ideas.”

Putin

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman explained that Trump and Putin have both fallen strangely silent, nothing is happening on the international arena, and that means something is bound to happen — and not necessarily something good, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

“Where is today’s agenda? We knew the agenda last week, the week before last. Last week, by the way, the Olympics dominated the news to some extent. The week before last, negotiations began and continued in Abu Dhabi. Where is the agenda for this week? I even know the agenda for next week, because next week there is the Munich Security Conference, and its agenda is clear. It’s clear that big men and women will come, and we’ll have something to listen to about them and something to gossip about,” notes Mikhail Sheitelman.

Now, he states, everyone has gone quiet. In particular, the expert says, Trump is raging over some trivial nonsense, going after certain singers performing at the American football championship final, criticizing some “wrong” snowboarders at the Olympics, while Putin has completely dematerialized somewhere and is now busy dealing with small ethnic groups.

In his opinion, Putin’s silence can be explained by the fact that he simply has nothing to talk about: peace negotiations are not his topic — he’d rather wage war; the Olympics only inspire envy, since Russia is not represented there; and the Munich Conference is also out of reach for him.

“But usually a state like the one we’re seeing today happens before a big boom. Something has to happen, something must occur. When Putin has gone completely quiet, ideas have run out, Trump has gone completely quiet as well… I’m sitting here thinking about what will happen. Unfortunately, bad things happen too. ‘Something will happen’ does not mean something good. It will either come from the sky — a lot of something will fall directly on us — or someone else will fall somewhere,” Mikhail Sheitelman concludes.
