“This Was in Line with Trump’s Morality”: Expert Assesses the Consequences of Ayatollah Khamenei’s Elimination

Trump

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman stated that almost the only person who condemned the elimination of Khamenei was Putin, since he himself could be next, and the death of a leader is always an opportunity — though not a guarantee that it will materialize, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

“Putin is almost the only person in the world who condemned this and called the killing of Khamenei a cynical violation of human morality and international law. ‘Please accept my deep condolences in connection with the killing of the Supreme Leader of Iran and members of his family, committed with a cynical violation of all norms of human morality and international law,’ he said. When I hear the words ‘human morality’ and ‘international law’ coming from Putin’s mouth, I laugh. Hasn’t he heard his beloved Trump? Trump said, ‘That’s it, there is no more international law, there is my personal morality.’ This was in line with Trump’s morality. So when Putin talks about morality and international law, you should reach for your revolver. I advise everyone to do so,” Mikhail Sheitelman comments.

Of course, the expert emphasizes, Putin was alarmed by Khamenei’s elimination because he understands he could be next. Gaddafi, Soleimani, and Hussein have already been eliminated, he notes; now Khamenei; Assad and Maduro were removed but not killed; essentially only Putin and Kim Jong-un remain. Perhaps, the expert speculates, there will be an intermediate finish in April and we will lose Orban after the elections — in a democratic country that is possible, but not in Russia.

As he reasons, one could imagine Witkoff announcing the breakdown of negotiations because of the nonsense Medinsky is spouting, American planes taking off and striking Putin’s residence, Russia being left without a president, and Ukraine and the United States together calling on the Russian people to take power into their own hands. However, the expert notes, this would hardly lead to anything serious immediately, since Russia is run by television, and in the event of Putin’s death it is unlikely that Navalny’s supporters would suddenly be the ones broadcasting.

“Would there be benefits for Ukraine and the civilized world from Putin’s elimination? Of course there would. Why? After all, so much depends on him. It would be a point of instability, just as Khamenei’s elimination is now a point of instability for the regime as a whole. When one person has ruled for 37 years, try to keep everything exactly as it was. It’s not a fact that you’ll even come close. The same will happen in the event of Putin’s elimination. But when Brezhnev died, nothing changed; when Chernenko died, nothing changed; when Andropov died, nothing changed; then Gorbachev came. And that’s when things changed. Do you feel it? Because at some point the system made a mistake, appointed Gorbachev, and he dismantled everything. That’s the opportunity. So indeed, some opportunity arises — but it’s not guaranteed that it will be realized,” Mikhail Sheitelman explains.
