“A lot of conspiracy theories and talk”: an expert explained why the U.S. started a war against Iran

Iran

Kazakh political scientist Farhad Kasenov explained that for a long time Iran merely talked about wanting to destroy Israel and the United States, but now, according to the U.S., it has made significant progress in its nuclear program, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this in Valerii Savchuk’s author program “Different People.”

“There is a lot of conspiracy thinking and speculation surrounding the war in Iran, just as there is around all of Trump’s actions. Therefore, we should rely on real facts and try to analyze the algorithm of his decisions. We remember that the current U.S. president has certain psychological traits connected with his desire to leave a mark in history and receive the Nobel Prize. Of course, I wouldn’t overestimate these factors, but he wants to show that he has decisively cut through all the Gordian knots — the problems surrounding the United States. That’s where the rhetoric comes from that he has resolved eight military conflicts in a certain number of days. I think the same applies to Iran,” Farhad Kasenov noted.

As he explains, Iran has been a problem for the United States since 1979. During all this time, the expert states, Iran’s rhetoric has not changed at all: for them the U.S. is the “Great Satan,” and Israel is the “Little Satan.” These enemies are very convenient because they are far away and do not respond to such statements.

Nevertheless, he emphasizes that Iran’s internal logic has changed significantly. When people spend 40 years saying they want to destroy the United States and are preparing nuclear weapons for that purpose, sooner or later they themselves begin to believe they actually have the capability to do it.

“And Iran, according to statements by the United States, has made major progress in the development of nuclear weapons. Recently they have also demonstrated that they are capable of developing long-range missiles. There is information that they received some of the technological expertise from Russia — Soviet-era specialists in missile construction, including ballistic and intercontinental missiles. What once seemed like an insignificant threat is beginning to take on real features. The United States decided to put a stop to this. Negotiations began, but the negotiation track quickly went in the wrong direction, and decisive actions were taken in response,” Farhad Kasenov explained.
