“As an equal partner”: an expert assessed the agreements between Ukraine and European countries

Europe

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman stated that in 2024 Ukraine signed security agreements with its partners, while this year it is already concluding agreements on joint weapons production, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

According to the expert, President Zelensky has an extensive program in Europe: he has already visited Germany, Norway, and Italy, and the tour continues. In each country, what is essentially a security agreement is being signed. He notes that this resembles 2024, when Ukraine also signed security agreements with various countries, including the United States under Biden, although Trump somehow ignored this fact.

“But what has changed over these two years? One very important thing has changed. Now we go to Europe not for security guarantees, but with security guarantees. That is, Ukraine now provides security guarantees to Europeans. Of course, I’m exaggerating a bit — not in the literal sense that Ukraine is providing guarantees. The point is that packages of defense agreements on joint weapons production are being concluded,” explains Mikhail Sheitelman.

Of course, he notes, there are also supply contracts. For example, Zelensky and Merz visited a joint production site, where they were shown seven types: the Linza 3.0 drone, the Termit robotic system, the Strikoza reconnaissance drone, the medium-range Anubis drone, the short-range Seth-X, the KOLIBRI FPV kamikaze drone, and the STRILA interceptor drone.

“In addition, within this agreement there are supplies of IRIS-T systems and missiles for Patriot, which will be purchased under the Build with Ukraine initiative. Do you understand? Two years ago this would have been called ‘Build for Ukraine,’ but now it is ‘Build with Ukraine.’ So we didn’t come to Europe empty-handed. We are now entering the EU from a security standpoint not as a protected party, but as an equal partner,” Mikhail Sheitelman concludes.
