Impeachment of Trump: US Congress Initiates Proceedings to Remove Trump from Office
Congressman Shri Thanedar from Michigan has submitted articles of impeachment against former President Donald Trump to the U.S. House of Representatives.
"I have introduced articles of impeachment against President Trump. When Trump ignores the Constitution, Congress, and the courts, he is not fighting for America. He is destroying it and putting our democracy at risk," Thanedar stated on social media platform X.
The congressman clarified that he had submitted seven articles of impeachment against Trump, accusing him of various serious violations. In particular, Thanedar accused Trump of unlawfully cutting funding to certain government agencies through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) without Congressional approval.
Another reason for the impeachment, according to Thanedar, is Trump’s aggressive tariff policy. The unprecedented tariffs had a negative impact on the global economy. The congressman also cited Trump’s pressure on journalists and violation of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech, bribery, interference with the judiciary, and illegal collection of citizens’ personal information.
"Article Seven – Tyrannical Abuse of Power. Trump is attempting to consolidate unlimited power and dismantle the constitutional limits of the presidency. In our country, we have presidents, not kings. This is not just misconduct — it is impeachable misconduct," Thanedar declared.
