“No one will win”: an expert explained why everyone will lose because of the war in the Middle East

Turkish political scientist Togrul Ismail explained that the war in the Middle East is currently not helping Israel, Turkey, Russia, or China, and even if there is a victory there, it will be a Pyrrhic one, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on Valerii Savchuk’s author program “Different People.”

“I don’t think Israel will benefit from this either. Israel is actually going through a serious crisis. It cannot cope with Iran, so it strikes Lebanon. And what then? What has this led to? Where are the countries in the Middle East that are friendly to Israel now? You’ll hardly find anyone. They simply fear the United States and do not speak openly—they remain silent. If earlier, during the 12-day war, European countries supported Israel, now they oppose it. And what has Netanyahu achieved?” Togrul Ismail claims.

Turkey itself, he notes, is also gaining nothing, since there is a war in a neighboring country, hostilities are close, and four Iranian missiles have already been shot down near its borders. Moreover, the expert warns that if a serious escalation begins, refugees will start arriving en masse, there will be disorder in the region, and this will hit Turkey economically.

As for Russia, the program’s guest notes that yes, oil prices are rising, but imports are also becoming more expensive. China’s economy, the expert adds, also relies on Iran’s energy resources; if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, prices will start rising rapidly, which will destabilize the economy.

“In other words, no one will benefit from this. It is a dead-end strategy, with no result, and it leads to nothing good. Just look at market prices: sometimes oil goes up and gold falls, sometimes oil drops and gold rises. It’s a bit ironic, but speculators are the ones who profit. And this is not the first time. Remember, the Roman Empire defeated Carthage, but in fact Pyrrhus said that such a victory is closer to defeat. Here (in the Middle East) it’s the same,” Togrul Ismail explains.
