“Our Path Is Through Security”: Expert Explains How Ukraine Will Join the EU and NATO

Political expert and Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko explained that Ukraine’s partners need its unique experience, so NATO and the EU will come to Ukraine themselves amid threats from Russia, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this in his blog.

As the expert notes, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are striking launch sites, radar stations, as well as facilities where various types and models of UAVs are stored, stockpiled and subsequently launched. He emphasizes that Ukraine’s partners are seeing this, which is why they are talking about the need to integrate Ukraine into the EU’s security mechanisms.

“There is no need to rush to talk about NATO — they will come to us themselves. Europeans will come themselves, understanding the capabilities and potential of the Ukrainian army. We will rebuild the army of Europe; that is our historic mission. Our instructors, experts and specialists will train our partners so that Europe becomes more resilient. But for this, we need support: weapons, funding, support for reforms, integration into Schengen, and access for Ukrainian products to EU markets. Europe needs to pay Ukraine for security. Well, security has to be paid for. The Germans do not want to fight and are demonstrating anti-war sentiments. What happens next?” explains Oleksandr Musiienko.

According to European expert Klaus Valle, he says, Ukrainian military personnel could make up as much as half of Europe’s rapid reaction forces, because the Armed Forces of Ukraine have unique experience. A European Security Council should be created, which could include Ukraine, Britain, Norway and Turkey. This is particularly important, the expert emphasizes, because Ukraine believes that after a possible ceasefire, Russia could use the pause to prepare for new aggression against the Baltic states. Therefore, a new European security system is needed, and this is an urgent task.

“There you have it. There is your answer. We need to strengthen ourselves, but I have outlined the conditions. This is how Ukraine will be integrated. So there is no need to worry when they say they do not see us in NATO and the EU. This is how we will join — our path is through security. At the same time, we also have our own conditions that we need to implement,” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
