“The So-Called Root Causes Cannot Be Eliminated Without Confrontation with NATO”: Expert Warns of Risks of Russian Aggression

NATO

Political expert and Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko stated that the risks of Russian aggression on NATO’s eastern flank are now seriously increasing, and that the United States is already aware of this, Politeka reports.

He discussed this in his blog.

“European representatives arrived (editor’s note – during Witkoff and Kushner’s visit to Kyiv), and there will be a meeting next week in a trilateral format involving Ukraine, the United States, and Europe. This indicates that, on the one hand, Europeans want to be part of the negotiation process, while on the other hand, the threats of a Russian invasion of the Baltic states and Europe are increasing. I have not seen such a surge in reports, analytical articles, and media coverage about a possible Russian invasion of Europe in a long time,” Oleksandr Musiienko noted.

According to the expert, if we look at the chronology of events, two weeks ago the CIA director flew to Moscow. Reports said that he may have warned Putin about possible aggression on NATO’s eastern flank, as the risks are increasing. Now Witkoff and Kushner have visited Russia and Ukraine, and following these visits there have been numerous publications about a possible Russian invasion of European countries.

For example, he says, The Guardian reports that planners working with NATO believe that Europe currently cannot withstand a war of attrition with Russia, meaning that NATO should plan for a scenario involving a short conflict. In addition, the expert says, the risks are increasing against the backdrop of the United States preparing to reduce its defense commitments in Europe, where support for populist forces is growing.

“The risks of a Russian invasion of NATO countries are increasing. There is an understanding that Putin sees Trump’s presence in office as a window of opportunity to test NATO. The Russians constantly talk about the root causes of the conflict, but the root causes are not in Ukraine; they are in NATO, in the United States, and in Europe. This is a Russian propaganda narrative, but they keep talking about it. These so-called root causes cannot be eliminated without confrontation with NATO. This does not necessarily mean a conventional war right now, but something has to happen. And that is precisely why Witkoff and Kushner urgently flew to Russia: they need to buy time so that this does not happen on the eve of the elections,” Oleksandr Musiienko explained.
