Rising food prices in Ukraine: what will hit your pocket the most

Food Prices

The rising food prices in Ukraine are already noticeable to the naked eye and are forcing local residents to change their consumer habits.

The rising food prices in Ukraine have affected certain items on store shelves, Politeka reports.

The rising food prices in Ukraine have led to some people reducing their purchases, while others are looking for cheaper alternatives. But one fact remains - eating even basic items is becoming more and more expensive.

According to the State Statistics Service, apples are the most surprising. Their price has more than doubled in a year. On the shelves, they already cost over forty hryvnias per kilogram. Fresh herbs are not far behind. Parsley and dill have jumped by almost half.

The rising food prices in Ukraine have also affected fruits, in particular citrus fruits. Another sore topic is bread. Currently, a loaf of wheat bread costs from thirty to thirty-five. The increase in the cost of electricity and logistics immediately affects the final price in the store.

And although prices have not yet reached a record level, experts do not rule out further growth in the near future. Meat is also growing. On average, the increase is up to nine percent per month. Among the reasons are the reduction in livestock, the rise in the cost of feed and energy resources.

The situation on the vegetable market is a little calmer. But here too, prices are not standing still. Potatoes have risen to thirty-three UAH. Carrots already cost over forty-two UAH per kilogram.
