Journalist Kateryna Kotenkova revealed what benefits the state provides to Ukrainian pensioners who receive small payments, Politeka reports.

She spoke about this on the Znay.ua channel.

According to the journalist, Ukrainian pensioners have the right to free travel on public transport and suburban minibuses; it is enough to show a pension certificate to travel free of charge by bus, trolleybus, tram or suburban electric train. At the same time, she adds, free travel does not apply to the metro, taxi and intercity transport.

“Pensioners who worked in rural areas and live there after retirement are entitled to a 100% benefit for housing, heating and lighting within the established norms. These are professions in such areas as education, museum work, library, medicine, pharmacy, cultural and educational institutions, and plant protection. But there is a condition: the average monthly total income of the beneficiary for the previous 6 months should not exceed the income level that gives the right to a social tax benefit. And today it is 4240 UAH,” Kateryna Kotenkova reports.

In addition, she adds, another benefit concerns land tax, it does not need to be paid if the plot is used specifically by pensioners for gardening.

“Another benefit is free legal assistance for pensioners. Pensioners can use the services of a number of state public programs, specialists who provide free legal advice. You can contact them on various issues, starting from the legality of charging for housing and communal services, receiving benefits for registering an inheritance, for example, etc. "Contact information for such specialists can be found at the Pension Fund of Ukraine branch or through an Internet search," concludes Kateryna Kotenkova.
