The US tried to involve other players in this process, - political scientist on the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war

Trump

Political scientist Ruslan Bortnyk explained that the US found itself in a situation of political deadlock, so it began to involve various countries in the peace settlement process, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this in his blog.

"The Turkish press wrote about Trump asking Erdogan for help. I don't think Trump asked like this: 'Erdogan, help me, my dear, please, I can't handle it.' I think it probably sounded different. It's hard to imagine Trump in such a role. He never asks anyone for anything, even from people who are stronger or more powerful than him," Ruslan Bortnyk claims.

Apparently, the expert thinks, Turkey offered to try to help, because Trump and his team have hit a ceiling, it's time to make a principled decision to take responsibility for the further development of events, which they do not want to do at all. That is, he explains, the US should have already guaranteed something to Ukraine or Russia in exchange for concessions, but then the negotiations in Istanbul appeared.

In addition, the expert emphasizes, threats to withdraw from the negotiation process no longer work, because Europe is ready to continue helping Ukraine in the war, in particular France and Britain, but this threatens a military crisis in Poland, Romania or the Baltic countries, which are oriented towards the US.

"And so, having such a complex situation, a situation of a kind of political split, the US, on the one hand, broadcast its readiness to withdraw, trying to put pressure on Ukraine and Europe, and on the other - began to throw fishing rods in all directions. "Qatar, Turkey, even China, despite having the status of the main geopolitical opponent, were named as countries that could participate in a peaceful settlement. The US tried to involve other players in this process, share responsibility and preserve the political process that is ongoing around the end of the war," explains Ruslan Bortnyk.
