Serhiy Velichansky explained that the most difficult thing for a veteran is: “You find yourself alone with new challenges”

Serhiy Velichansky

Veteran Serhiy Velichansky told what problems and challenges the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine face when they return from the front to civilian life, and how to solve them, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this in the program “Dialogues” with Maksym Yali.

“The first is the feeling that you find yourself alone with new challenges. It’s as if you returned to where you were, where you lived, where you created something, some businesses, had affairs, a job, but you returned and there is this inner feeling. Misunderstanding, accusations, why I served for so long, why this, that and that are still not in service,” Serhiy Velichansky notes.
In addition, the veteran emphasizes, a lot of things change, because you no longer want to meet with some friends, you have nothing to talk about, something has changed logistically, and in general there is a feeling of uncertainty, a lack of understanding of how to rebuild everything you had before the full-scale war.

As the guest of the program says, he was discharged from the service due to health reasons, but he does not have a disability, respectively, a disability pension too, there is a one-time payment from the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a month and that's it, you immediately encounter new challenges. According to the veteran, you need some kind of program for half a year or a year, which would allow you not to rush, not to jump anywhere, to any job, in order to instead use your resources and time for a full return and recovery.

“Finances are important, but the most important problem of a veteran is to find yourself again. This is a psychological aspect. Because when he psychologically resocializes, returns, finds himself, then he will solve all his financial issues, etc. himself," explains Serhiy Velichansky.
