Continuation of negotiations or summer campaign: expert told what will happen after Istanbul

Donald Trump, war in Ukraine

Military expert Oleg Starikov explained that the entire negotiation process looks so unclear because secret diplomacy is working, but there is a chance that everything will fail, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his channel.

“Something is happening, some kind of Brownian motion, some kind of entropy, something incomprehensible. And I will tell you what is happening, in my subjective opinion, which is based on knowledge, and this opinion is 99% always true. All the main negotiations are now being conducted away from observers. We are observing the tip of the iceberg, 10% at the top, and the main part, 90%, is happening below,” Oleg Starikov notes.

That is, he states, the negotiations are taking place at the level of so-called secret diplomacy, real, classical, which is not conducted with the help of a microphone, a loudspeaker, a captains' competition or calling each other bad names. In particular, the expert recalls, Zelensky called the Russian delegation a sham, and Lavrov responded with words that should not be used in diplomacy.

"I analyzed the Russian delegation that arrived, so it all consists of techies. That is, this is a group that works out technical documents, that is, all the commas, every word. Each side inserts its own words and so on. The next stage is negotiations between the foreign ministers," explains Oleg Starikov.

In his opinion, the first option for the development of the situation is the continuation of negotiations, in particular, on the cessation of hostilities, then the parties will be able to move on to the terms of a truce, and then the signing of a peace treaty, that is, freezing the war for some time. If the negotiations fail, the expert warns, then the parties have everything ready for a summer military campaign.
