Political scientist explains whether the US will start selling weapons to Ukraine

Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik explained that if Ukraine starts buying weapons from the US, many in Europe will want the same conditions, and our financial capabilities do not allow this, Politeka reports.
He wrote about this in his blog.

According to the expert, we now have a very fine line, because new aid packages from the US are not coming, they are not even being considered in Congress, and there are no prospects for this. In the meantime, he notes, the last aid from Biden is arriving, and most of it will end in early July, some things are calculated until 2027, but these are trifles.

"On the other hand, the US refuses to even provide this in the form of a loan, which was the plan. And on the third hand, Ukraine is hesitant to start direct purchases, because as soon as Ukraine buys the first bullet for the first dollar, all subsequent supplies from any American administration will only be for a dollar," Ruslan Bortnik emphasizes.
And we understand perfectly well, the expert states, that Ukrainian financial capabilities are currently about 40 billion dollars per year, 50 billion maximum, and this money is barely enough to finance the army.

"Therefore, the situation today is in a fragile balance. America is ready to sell, but as soon as Ukraine starts buying weapons in America, a political crisis will arise for our European allies, where the opposition or individual countries within the European Union will start demanding that Ukraine also only sell weapons. The United States is not ready to supply weapons on credit or for free. The United States would rather transfer them to the Middle East, to Israel, from where they will pay money for these weapons. The United States would rather sell them to their other allies, who will pay for it in cash," concludes Ruslan Bortnik.
