Economic expert assesses whether Europe will be able to help Ukraine instead of the US: "There is money, but not for you"

Europe

Economic expert Vadym Sirota explained that Europe is unlikely to be able to replace all American aid to Ukraine, because the philosophy and model of the EU itself no longer work.
He spoke about this in the program "Dialogues" with Ruslan Bortnik.

"I would expand our dialogue, I would invite a third interlocutor - the former Minister of Finance, Economy and Industrial Development of France Bruno Le Maire. He said one such wonderful thing: "European money is sleeping, it works." Europeans do not have money - some people perceived it this way. There is money, but not for you - this is the first point. And the second point - will Brussels be able to wake up this sleeping money, pull it out of its den and what is the role of Ukraine in this?", - notes Vadym Sirota.

As the guest of the program explains, for the average Ukrainian, joining Europe means social standards, a high quality of life. Nevertheless, he emphasizes, the EU expert and political circles are already realizing that the current economic model is not self-sustaining, and doubts are arising that it will guarantee these high standards in the future.

"In our view, the EU is something big and with guaranteed cheap mortgages, unemployment benefits. Yes, thank God, these social elements are present in European countries. But the question is how to make this model economically efficient so that, against the backdrop of China and the United States, Europe does not turn into an orphan sitting on the edge of a bench, does not become a second-tier geoeconomic player, a yard football team? These risks are recognized. In Brussels, these risks are recognized," explains Vadim Sirota.

According to the expert, in the era of trade wars and protectionism, the very philosophy of Europe as a large market of free capital, goods and labor is undergoing colossal changes. As he claims, one can say that all this time Europe has been vacuuming up added value, but it no longer works like that.
