Political Expert on the Outcome of Trump’s Meeting with Putin: “The Chosen Scenario Is to Give Putin More Time”

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko assessed President Zelensky’s meeting with Donald Trump at the NATO summit and explained what strategy the U.S. president is likely to adopt toward Russia, reports Politeka.
He shared his insights on his blog.
According to Musiienko, this time the meeting lasted 50 minutes, and fortunately, Trump did not make any negative remarks about Ukraine or Zelensky afterward. He appeared quite focused and spoke constructively. Moreover, Trump described Zelensky as very nice, said he genuinely wanted to end the war, and even promised to call Putin about it.
“Globally, this means the chosen scenario is to give Putin more time and still call for negotiations. The President of Turkey already stated in The Hague that he supports the continuation of talks between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul. So now we may see such appeals again — to meet and talk further. And to give Putin some time. Why? That remains a mystery. Trump himself, for one, did not rule out that Putin may have territorial ambitions beyond Ukraine. He also said Putin seemed confused,” Musiienko explained.
He also noted that Trump did not answer the question of whether Ukraine would receive Patriot air defense systems and accompanying missiles, citing that they are also needed by Israel. In the expert’s opinion, this is more about U.S. bases in the Middle East, which were recently attacked by Iran — but Ukraine still needs these deliveries more urgently.
“News will come after Trump talks to Putin. When that will happen — we’ll see. But again, Putin is being given another chance. More time and opportunity for the Russian dictator to come to his senses. So far, we’ve heard no specifics about aid, arms deliveries, or even weapons purchases that Ukraine is ready to make — nor about sanctions. And these are the two fundamentally important pillars of peace through strength: consistent arms supplies and tougher sanctions against Russia and those who buy its gas, oil, and uranium,” Musiienko concluded.
