"Bravo, Donald Trump!": Expert Explains Why Trump Decided to Give Ukraine More Weapons

Political strategist Mykhailo Sheitelman explained that Ukraine still has many friends in the U.S. Congress, in American society, in the media, and in the world in general, which is why Trump decided to provide us with more weapons, Politeka reports.

He shared this in his blog.

“Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and talked about very important things. He said he hopes the war between Israel and Iran is over. Wow, we sighed, good. He said he wants to lift sanctions on Iran so that Iran can develop and fulfill its potential. Bravo, we cheered. He said the U.S. is close to signing a deal with India. Wonderful. He said that the introduction of tariffs starting August 1 is an absolute imperative. Great, we said.
And then suddenly Trump says the U.S. will have to send more defensive weapons to Ukraine — they need to defend themselves. And at that moment, we all shouted: ‘Wow! Bravo, Donald Trump!’
We finally heard from Trump what we had been waiting for so eagerly,” said Mykhailo Sheitelman.

So, he concludes, Trump decided to send more weapons to Ukraine amid his growing disappointment with Putin and in response to Russian shelling. But this news, the expert notes, didn't take too long — from the very beginning, he had said it would take Ukraine’s political leadership 2–3 weeks to resolve the issue, and they made it in time.

“Why did Trump change his position? Because on this issue, we are not alone. When it comes to arms supplies, we are not alone. It's important to understand that Trump is the President of the United States — a vast democratic country — and he relies on the democratic majority in his nation. So, he faces pressure from many sides,” Mykhailo Sheitelman emphasized.

Ukraine, of course, the expert points out, cannot exert pressure on the U.S., but senators and our international partners can. NATO’s Secretary General spun a narrative about a simultaneous attack by China on Taiwan and Russia on Europe, Trump’s favorite newspaper The New York Post published an article — and that was it, he gave in.
