“Patriots have already arrived”: Expert says Ukraine suddenly started shooting down more missiles

Political strategist Mykhailo Sheitelman assessed the successes of Ukrainian air defense and stated that the cheapest way to stop Russian strikes is to destroy aircraft, launchers, and factories, Politeka reports.
He discussed this in his blog:
“Two major attacks on Kyiv – one a week ago, and one yesterday. But there’s a difference, did you notice? A week ago, of the 7 ballistic missiles launched at Kyiv, 0 were intercepted. Zero out of seven. Yesterday, of the 8 ‘Iskander-M’ ballistic missiles launched at Kyiv, all 8 were shot down. A week ago – 0 out of 7. Yesterday – 8 out of 8. I don’t believe for a second that our air defense crews didn’t know how to shoot down ballistic missiles a week ago but suddenly learned how yesterday. I believe something else – that the Patriots have already arrived,” Sheitelman notes.
The expert emphasizes that there’s nothing besides the Patriot system that can effectively intercept ballistic missiles. Indeed, the supply of interceptor missiles was halted for a while but later resumed thanks to the efforts of Zelensky, his team, the Europeans, and the Americans.
At the same time, he points out that this latest massive attack on Kyiv demonstrates that unless the root problem is solved, the attacks won’t stop. Yes, the expert admits, one could call Putin, but that won’t solve anything. One could also send Ukraine more Patriot systems, which will help shoot down missiles, but as Trump himself once said, it’s expensive. A cheaper alternative is to destroy the missiles at an earlier stage — during their production and launch.
“You see, we destroyed Russian aircraft — now only 6 to 8 Kh-101 cruise missiles are launched at us, not 150, as it used to be, or even 200. That’s because we disabled their planes — and even Trump criticized us for it. But yesterday’s attack would not have included just 6 cruise missiles and 7 others if we hadn’t eliminated all those Russian planes during Operation 'Spider.' It would have been 60 or 160. In 2022, there were 160 cruise missiles in a single day. Now it’s just 6. So how do we do the same with drones? How do we do the same with ‘Iskanders’? First, there are launchers. Second, there are production plants — and those can be hit. We just need the means to do it. We’ll get there,” Sheitelman explains.
