“Ceasefire – then troops”: Expert says the Coalition of the Willing’s stance is too cautious

Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko stated that the Coalition of the Willing is tying the deployment of troops to Ukraine to a distant and illusory ceasefire instead of issuing an ultimatum, reports Politeka.
He shared this on his blog.
“Again, not now, not while active combat is ongoing. Unfortunately, our partners’ position hasn’t changed. It remains far too unjustified, ungrounded, overly cautious, and mild—essentially, ‘ceasefire first, then troops,’” Musiienko notes.
As the expert explains, knowing this condition, Putin will never allow a ceasefire to be established. He recalls that immediately after Macron announced that 26 countries were ready to send troops or assist with deployment, a representative of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Western military contingents in Ukraine are completely unacceptable for Russia.
“In other words, Russia’s position isn’t changing, and security guarantees are tied to the question of when a ceasefire or peace occurs. They’re not about putting Russia before a fact and issuing an ultimatum: ‘This is what will happen, and you must accept it.’ No, it only happens after certain actions. When this ceasefire or truce will occur is completely unclear,” Musiienko explains.
According to the expert, his most optimistic forecast is the end of the year, no earlier than November–December, because until then, Putin will try to achieve his set goals. Furthermore, he adds, after the SCO summit in China and his meeting with Xi Jinping, Putin is inspired and emboldened; he gained additional bravado, a mandate to continue the war against Ukraine, and believes everything is going well and that nothing threatens him.
