New USА sanctions against Russia after the strike on Sumy: Trump recalled the old restrictions

USА President Donald Trump has commented on the possibility of imposing new sanctions against Russia following its missile attack on the city of Sumy.

When asked by a journalist whether additional sanctions against the Russian Federation should be expected, Trump recalled that he had already imposed restrictions during his previous presidency.

He made the statement during a meeting with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele.

"I already imposed sanctions against Russia. If you remember, Nord Stream 2 was a massive gas pipeline running through Europe. And I stopped it," Trump said.

He emphasized that it was one of the largest pipelines in the world, intended to supply Russian gas to Germany.

Previously, Trump extended for another year the state of emergency in the U.S., initially declared by Joe Biden, in response to Russia’s aggressive actions on the international stage. The reasons cited included election interference, cyberattacks, and threats to the security of U.S. allies.

On April 13, Russia launched a missile strike on central Sumy. The attack occurred in a crowded civilian area.

According to the latest data, at least 119 people were injured, and at least 35 were killed.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, said that the Russians struck the center of Sumy two times with an interval of 2-2.5 minutes. Previously, the occupiers used high-explosive Iskander-M missiles, the speed of which exceeds 2 km per second. The high-explosive warhead detonates upon impact with the ground.
