"New EU Border Crossing Rules": Journalist Talks About Changes at the Border

Europe

Journalist Kateryna Kotenko shared what will change for Ukrainians in October both in Ukraine and abroad, particularly regarding the heating season and border crossing, as reported by Politeka.
She spoke about this on the channel Znay.ua.

"The traditional date for the start of the heating season is considered to be October 15, but the radiators won't be turned on automatically — it will depend on the weather. That is, if the average daily temperature stays below +8°C for three days in a row, some regions may get heating earlier, while others later. And there’s good news: heating tariffs will not increase this winter. They will remain the same at least until the end of the heating season," Kateryna Kotenko reported.

On October 26 at 4:00 AM, the journalist notes, Ukrainians will traditionally move their clocks one hour back. Most digital devices will do this automatically, but mechanical clocks will need to be adjusted manually. So, she states, despite ongoing discussions in Parliament about abolishing seasonal time changes, everything remains the same for now.

"New EU border crossing rules. Starting October 12, the EU is launching a new system — passport stamps will be abolished. All data about entry and exit will be entered into an electronic database, and photos, four-fingerprints (for individuals aged 12 and up), passport information, and dates of border crossings will be collected. This means that the time it takes to cross the border may increase, as everyone will be required to undergo biometric screening," Kateryna Kotenko explains.

She also notes another important update regarding fines for Ukrainian drivers in Poland, as the transitional period ends on October 1. According to the journalist, if a Ukrainian stays in Poland longer and does not exchange their driver's license for a Polish one, they may face a fine of 2,000 zlotys — approximately 22,800 UAH.
