Russia spends $140 billion on the war alone, while we are resisting with $50–60 billion, an expert says about the economies of the warring countries

Political strategist Mykhailo Sheitelman stated that Putin’s behavior is 100% that of an alcoholic, and that his main impulsive spending is the war against Ukraine, on which Russia has already spent $140 billion, Politeka reports.

He said this on his blog.

“Putin promises the same thing every year for the next one. Every year he says: ‘We will definitely take Pokrovsk, we will definitely take Kupiansk.’ We have seen bouts of anger, and he also has these phases of upswing, omnipotence, breakdown, and then a return, when he disappears for a month. Aversion to restrictions, violation of agreements, testing boundaries, contempt for formal rules,” Mykhailo Sheitelman emphasizes.

An alcoholic, he notes, is characterized by impulsive spending, and this is 100% true of Putin, because Belousov stated at an expanded meeting of the Russian Ministry of Defense that they have already spent 11.1 trillion rubles on the war, which is approximately $140 billion. Previously, the expert emphasizes, it was believed that this was all Russia’s defense spending, but Belousov let it slip that this was specifically for the war.

“This is not the military budget, these are expenses directly for the war. Because a military budget is building ships somewhere in Severomorsk or installing radar stations in Kamchatka. But all of that has nothing to do with the war. $140 billion has been spent only on the war. And after that Europeans tell us: ‘Where are you putting the money? Why do you need so much?’ Russia spends $140 billion solely on the war, while we are resisting with $50–60 billion. Why haven’t we been able to defeat the Russians yet? Because they have $140 billion for the war, and we have $50–60 billion,” Mykhailo Sheitelman explains.

According to the expert, he paid attention to this expanded meeting of the Russian Ministry of Defense at all only because last year, at the same event, Belousov stated that the plan of the Russian forces for 2025 was the complete occupation of the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions. This plan, he notes, has been fulfilled by only 1–2%, and it was interesting whether Putin would hold Belousov accountable for this—but of course not, because alcoholics do not hold each other accountable.
