“The Ceasefire Helped Organize the Attack”: Expert Explains Why Kh-22 Missiles Are Flying at Kyiv Again

Russia's Attack on Ukraine

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman said that while Trump is sharing positive news about peace, the Russians are preparing new attacks on Ukraine, using the ceasefire as cover so that nothing interferes with their plans, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

As the expert notes, following the energy ceasefire, the U.S. president stated that for the first time he has good news regarding Ukraine and Russia and the possibility of resolving the war. However, Sheitelman emphasizes that Trump said this precisely at the moment when the Russians launched missiles and drones at Ukraine.

“Why does this keep happening? Attention, the question is: why does it always turn out so badly timed? Why do they always choose such an unfortunate moment to talk about how well things are going with the Russians, about how we should be friends with them? It seems to me the key is simple. There are no good moments with the Russians. No good moments. If the Russians announce a ceasefire, it means they are simply stockpiling missiles for a strike,” Mikhail Sheitelman stresses.

According to the expert, it is obvious that the Russians previously had nothing to strike with, so they accumulated resources and brought in Kh-22 missiles. As he explains, Kh-101 missiles can be loaded onto a railway platform, transported, and fired immediately, whereas for the Kh-22 it is necessary to separately deliver two types of liquid fuel, mix them at the airfield, and only then carry out a strike.

“They took advantage of the fact that we cannot strike their refueling stations for the Kh-22, their fuel tanks, because we have a ceasefire. And during that time they refueled the Kh-22 missiles. The Kh-101 does not need to be refueled—it can be done at the factory. But the Kh-22 must be fueled at the airfield in Engels or wherever they take off from. And this takes not one minute and not one hour. Our drones have enough time to reach the site at the moment when they are mixing the fuel—they have already managed to do so before. That is, the energy ceasefire helped the Russians organize the attack. After all, we could not strike their airfield,” Mikhail Sheitelman explains.
