Increase in utility tariffs in Ukraine: when it may happen

Increase in utility tariffs in Ukraine: it is impossible to avoid in the future.

There may be an increase in utility tariffs in Ukraine, which will mean bringing prices to economically justified levels, Politeka.net reports.

The NBU warned about this. "It is expected that this year the current tariff plans for gas, heating and hot water supply will not be revised," the National Bank document says.

At the same time, the difficult situation in the energy sector and the need for fiscal consolidation will likely lead to a gradual price increase in other regions in the coming years.

The National Bank emphasized that uncertainty in the timing and scale of tariff adjustments poses a significant risk to the inflation forecast. Further postponement of this will contribute to temporarily lower inflation, but will lead to the accumulation of economic imbalances and increased price pressure in the future. Recall that after the start of a full-scale war, a moratorium on increasing utility tariffs has been in effect in Kyiv and other areas. At the same time, this moratorium does not apply to electricity and cold water.

It should be emphasized that today gas and electricity tariffs remain unchanged. Consumers using Naftogaz services (which account for 98% of the total) will continue to pay UAH 7.96 per cubic meter of gas. This price has not changed since the beginning of the war.

The electricity tariff for the population remains at UAH 4.32 per kWh, and was last revised in June 2024.
