“This is an extremely serious intelligence indicator”: an expert assessed what the Easter ceasefire could mean

war in Ukraine

Military expert Oleg Starikov explained that last year Russian troops were on the offensive, but now there is a strategic stalemate on the front, so the Easter ceasefire may be an intelligence indicator, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his channel.

“Why am I so confident that the war will be coming to an end in 2026? I am confident because the first step has now taken place. A ceasefire is the first step. This is an extremely serious intelligence indicator. I repeat, it is a serious intelligence indicator,” Oleg Starikov claims.

Yes, the expert notes, there were similar ceasefires before, like the Easter one this year, but the situation on the front used to be completely different. Back then, he recalls, Russian forces had seized the strategic initiative and were slowly advancing, while the Armed Forces of Ukraine were in strategic defense.

In 2026, the expert argues, the situation on the front is completely different. Yes, he states, the Armed Forces of Ukraine remain in strategic defense, and the Kremlin says that Russian troops are conducting a strategic offensive, but this means nothing because in reality the front is in a strategic stalemate. That is, the expert emphasizes, it is not just a positional stalemate, but a strategic one.

“What does this mean? It means that since the beginning of this year, we have finally found that ‘gunpowder.’ We found it, and the enemy has not been able to overcome it and cannot overcome it now. This means that a kill zone has been created not just in words, but in practice. The enemy has created the same. It is a zone of death—40–50 kilometers that are practically impossible for a single soldier to cross on foot, not to mention equipment,” Oleg Starikov explains.
