“They Don’t Even Have Their Own Ballistic Missiles”: Expert Explains How Lukashenko’s Threats to Fight Ukraine Could End

Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman stated that if Lukashenko continues threatening Ukraine in this manner, hinting at a strike on the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, it could indeed lead to a war that would end badly for Belarus, according to Politeka.
He discussed this on his blog.
According to the expert, Lukashenko responded to a statement by “Madyar” about 500 targets on Belarusian territory and said that he, too, has a target of his own. Sheitelman noted that the headline of the news item initially made it seem as though Lukashenko’s one target was peace. However, it turned out that he was referring to a target located in Ukraine, with precise coordinates, not far from the Belarusian border.
“Lukashenko is clearly referring to Chornobyl. He means that they would launch missile strikes on Chornobyl, on the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, on the sarcophagus. What else is there close to Belarus? Their missiles simply can’t reach much farther. Can you imagine? They don’t even have their own ballistic missiles or anything of that sort,” Mikhail Sheitelman argued.
He also noted that in the same statement, Lukashenko described Ukrainian soldiers as former laborers and collective farm workers, calling them cannon fodder. However, the expert emphasized that these same Ukrainian troops whom Lukashenko disparages have been successfully carrying out strikes against Russia, while Lukashenko himself appears reluctant to send Belarusian troops into Ukraine, understanding that they would be defeated.
Sheitelman added that Lukashenko also made comments about President Zelenskyy, saying that he should forgive him and claiming that Ukraine’s military does not want a war with Belarus.
“Good Lord, what war with Belarus? We’d sweep them aside. To hell with Belarus. No one would even notice. No one would notice Belarus. That’s what I understand. But look how combative he is, you know? Lukashenko, as they say, has accepted the challenge and is shouting, ‘We’re going to defeat you now.’ And I’m starting to fear that if this continues, it may actually come to that [a war with Belarus],” Mikhail Sheitelman concluded.
