We Need to Exhaust the Enemy Faster Than It Exhausts Us – Expert on Missiles and Artillery

Political analyst and serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Musiienko, said that Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi has approved a concept for the development of missile forces and artillery through 2030 and explained what changes can be expected, according to Politeka.
He discussed this in his blog.
Many people believe, the expert notes, that Ukraine is fighting solely with drones. While Ukraine has indeed achieved significant technological progress in drone warfare and has successfully struck enemy targets—with Russians even copying some Ukrainian solutions—drones are not the only factor on the battlefield. There are situations when the enemy breaks through with substantial forces and large amounts of equipment, making artillery indispensable. Ukraine therefore intends to continue developing its artillery capabilities and technologies.
“Certain types of shells can destroy fortified enemy positions with just one or two rounds, whereas it might take 20, 30, or even 50 drones to achieve the same result. As Syrskyi points out, artillery continues to play a major role on the battlefield, and we cannot abandon it. In addition, long-range artillery provides accurate and sustained fire support. It is also not dependent on weather conditions. The key requirement is having precise target coordinates. This depends partly on intelligence and reconnaissance drones. Nevertheless, artillery remains a powerful means of delivering concentrated fire,” Oleksandr Musiienko explained.
The expert also noted that the doctrine emphasizes the importance of missile weapons, which constitute a separate priority within the concept. Ukraine plans to complete the development and begin mass production of domestically produced ballistic and cruise missiles integrated with unmanned systems.
“The doctrine for the development of missile forces and artillery officially emphasizes the need to ensure the capability to strike targets at distances of up to 2,000 kilometers. This is an element of Ukraine’s strategy for conducting military operations: reducing the enemy’s potential, exhausting its resources, and destroying its offensive capabilities. The enemy is waging a war of attrition and annihilation against us. We need to exhaust the enemy faster than it exhausts us,” Oleksandr Musiienko concluded.
