Mobilization in Ukraine from May 1: Important changes await conscripts

Local residents are wondering how mobilization in Ukraine will take place from May 1, so we are telling you about the innovations.

Mobilization in Ukraine from May 1 will take place with some amendments, taking into account the new laws approved in April, Politeka reports.

Mobilization in Ukraine from May 1 covers both those who have already dealt with service and men without military experience. According to the updates, men aged 18 to 60 can be drafted into the army if they have service experience.

But for those who do not have experience, the conscription age starts at 25. The main criterion, as before, remains fitness for duty. Some can serve in support units or in educational institutions, while others fall under special conditions or will perform separate tasks.

And all this is decided only after passing the military medical commission. Mobilization in Ukraine from May 1 provides that if a person was previously removed from the register, but the reason has lost relevance, he is returned to the lists and can also be included in the state protection.

In the case of voluntary passing of the medical commission and receiving a positive conclusion, even those who were excluded from the register can join the service if they do not have a criminal record for serious crimes. There are also categories that are not subject to conscription without their own consent. These are persons with disabilities, released from captivity, as well as young people under 25 who have already completed basic military training.

Convicted citizens of mobilization age can also be involved in the service only if there is a court decision on parole. The law also clearly clarifies the situation for those who have already completed basic military training. Such persons cannot join the army before 25, unless they themselves express a desire to serve earlier.
